We live in a world of rapid advancement and changes in technology and overtime new technologies have emerged to change the means or method of production, lifestyle and generally the activities surrounding the world. In few years to come, we cannot say how far technology would have gone but we can only imagine how it will look like. Technology space is growing at a much faster rate than any other aspect, and the implications for society are profound.
These are examples of some technology already existing by science fiction writers and technology experts which are as follows:
• BIOTECH MEDICAL SECTOR: do we have human cloning? Cloning machines, age reversal, virtual/ robot medicine, Gene therapy/ manipulation.
• ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: we have intelligent machines, robots with rights, computer brokers who resolve legal disputes.
• INFORMATION WORLD: Virtual Presence, Internet Connection System, Telepathy, Cyberspace.
• SOCIETY: Cashless society, compatibility testers, digital money, unemployment rates sky high due to robots replacing in the work force.
• TRANSPORT SECTOR: flying cars, anti-gravity devices, time machines, self-driving cars on smart highways, solar cars, etc.; The future of technology in our workspace in the next decade will be in a very different place to how it is today. A lot of things will be transformed. The future for workers tends to scale from a nihilistic view of the robots taking our jobs, eradicating of repetitive tasks using artificial intelligence. Many people are debating about whether there will be enough jobs for everyone. However, business and finance roles as well as IT and math roles are expected to increase in number. Humans will not necessarily be without work, but they could end up making different professions. This evolving change in technology will leave human free to think, create and act as well as working and getting comfortable to this development even while at home.
Jacob Morgan predicted that in 2050, technology will dominate the workplace with artificial intelligence. Everything will be intelligent, connected and driven by the data. Work will become more fluid as some employees will be virtual, some will be robots.
Therefore, my advice to those doing chores is to grow mentally, skilfully, to stay relevant and avoid struggling. The advantages of this new technology will give us more time to focus on human aspects of work such as interaction and building relationships, creativity and practicing skills like empathy and self-awareness. The knowledge of programming logic will be as important as English and mathematics. Skills in solving problems, satisfying your customers’ needs will remain a competitive advantage for the work of the future.
In conclusion, every job will be transformed by the new technology and while some jobs are being streamlined and even eliminated completely. Yet many more are opening. But have it at the back of your mind, the world and workplace are becoming more technologically inclined as the day goes by and there is an increasing need for everyone to adopt the changing technological role of the workplace. It is very important that everybody must be aware that the future office trend will drastically change and will be different from what we are seeing today, and now the question is “Are we all ready for the revolution?”
